2000 lbs of Sweet Potatoes!

A West Chester Family made a heavy donation to the Food Bank. Here is their story about growing potatoes for our families in need during the Thanksgiving season this year:

My mother was a devoted gardener and my husband and I, who loved to garden with her, have continued to grow organic vegetables and fruits  since her death.  We were faced with needing to downsize the garden because we just didn’t need such a big garden ( about 80x 100′).  It seemed wrong to put the garden back to grass, but then I had an idea which I knew my mother would have loved – raising good food for those who needed it – she was always giving her produce away to family, neighbors, visitors…  I was sure she would have wholeheartedly loved the plan (and she loved sweet potatoes!).  We hope to do the project again next year.
