BUTCHER FEES COVERED - If you donate your deer through one of the butchers listed below, the butcher will process the deer meat into ground venison free of charge to the hunter and on your behalf, donate the meat to the Chester County Food Bank. Venison is a healthy source of protein that will help provide much needed nutrition to the 70,000 people in Chester County that struggle daily to get the food the need.

For this event, Matlack Florist has teamed up with The Chester County Food Bank in their mission to feed over 32,000 local households that don’t have enough food. Stop by with a non-perishable food or monetary donation, leave with a dozen FREE flowers.

There is a catch, however — you need to promise to keep only one flower for yourself and give the others away to 11 different people…meet someone new & spread goodwill, while contributing to the community in which we live and work.

FTD Good Neighbor Day originated in 1994 by a fellow FTD florist, and continues to be a day of celebration of friendship and goodwill for everyone!

FEED KIDS THIS SUMMER!

We have over 70,000 school children in Chester County and 15% of these kids are on the free and reduced lunch program. This means that come June, families won’t have enough food in their homes to feed their kids. We can make a difference.

Our PB & J Food Drive

Right now, we need volunteers to start at PB & J Food Drive. As simple as it sounds, we need to start putting core food items in stock at the local food pantries. Their supplies are drastically low and we want to make sure kids get enough to eat this summer.

Please….start a PB & J Food Drive at your neighborhood, your workplace, your church or social organization. Collect your PB & J and give us a call. We can help you find the food cupboard or pantry closest to you when your food will make a difference.

Start your drive, large or small!  Gather jars of peanut butter and jelly – then call us.

That is why we are reaching out to residential gardeners in Chester County asking them to consider donating excess vegetables from their gardens to the local food cupboards in their area.

Produce is expensive, so when you are struggling to make ends meet, fresh fruits and vegetables are not always the first choice.

Imagine that your summer cucumbers could be enjoyed by hungry families right here in Chester County this summer. Your zucchini or tomatoes that grew like crazy this summer, could make a huge impact for those people who don’t have enough money to buy nutritious vegetables.

If you are interested in dropping off fruits/vegetables from your garden, give your local cupboard to call to find out their hours of operation. Just use the below list of the cupboard in Chester County (sorted by city) to find the one closest to your home.

At the local ISAAC’S Restaurant & Deli in Exton, PA hot soup was part of their “Share the Warmth” promotion that benefited the Chester County Food Bank.

During the month of January, they offered to donate $1 for ever cup of soup ordered…any day of the week…for the whole month!

“We just wanted to help out the people in the community, said General Manager Andrew Micucc. In February, 2011, he presented a check for $1441 to the Chester County Food Bank.

Companies like this just warm our hearts!

During the busy holiday season, the Chester County Food Bank staff provided meat to the Salvation Army so they could offer their annual holiday meals to families struggling to get enough to eat.
