Now – April 13 | Nickels for Non-Profits
@ Whole Foods Devon | 821 Lancaster Ave., Wayne
Whole Foods Market offers a 5 cent per bag refund as incentive for customers to bring and reuse grocery bags. Customers have the option to donate their refund to one of two local nonprofits, selected by the store. This quarter (starting January 20), the selected nonprofits at Whole Foods Devon are the Chester County Food Bank and The Joy of Sox. In 2012, Whole Foods Market gave more than $5 million back to shoppers in reusable bag refunds. We estimate that through the plastic bag ban, Whole Foods Market shoppers have kept over 100 million plastic bags out of our landfills since Earth Day 2008. Reusable bag use in our stores has more than tripled since then.
