Fresh Produce Prescriptions

Connecting Food with Health & Wellness

FreshRx is a collaboration between CCFB and our local healthcare partners. FreshRx provides food-insecure households and individuals in Chester County with greater access to fresh fruits and vegetables, increasing participants’ consumption of fresh produce and overall well-being. The program also advocates for and educates on, food as medicine.

How It Works

FreshRx participants can redeem their prescription one of two ways:

Fresh2You Mobile Market

Chester County Food Bank’s Fresh2You Mobile Market carries a wide variety of fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables. Shop with your prescription at any Fresh2You mobile market location every week (June – November). You also have the option to purchase dry goods, spice blends, eggs, and honey with cash, credit, or SNAP/EBT. We also offer cooking demonstrations and taste tests!

CSA Share with Forge Hill Farm

A CSA, or Community-Supported Agriculture farm, means that you are a “member” of the farm you choose. Individuals purchase memberships at the beginning of the season, which helps with up-front costs for farmers. As an FVRx CSA member, your CSA has been paid for. This option is available to FreshRx participants from the Chester County WIC Clinics.

Forge Hill Farms in Downingtown uses organic growing practices to grow a wide variety of vegetables. CSA members choose their own 7-9 items every week, with an additional “take it or leave it” table that offers specialty or surplus items. You’ll also have the option to purchase other items like meats and cheeses from other local producers with cash, check, credit, or Venmo. Members are encouraged to explore the farm and visit with the animals while picking up their shares!

FreshRx Partners

Fresh2You accepts FreshRx as a form of payment. Through their health care provider at these locations, food-insecure patients can redeem prescriptions for fruits and vegetables weekly, at any Fresh2You Mobile Market location. FreshRx works in partnership local health care providers. If you are interested in receiving FreshRx, visit one of these providers or contact Mia Rogers, FreshRx Coordinator at 610-873-6000 x119 or by email.
