According to our research, fresh produce is the most requested item among those visiting food pantries. *
50% of the 3.5 million pounds of food distributed by the Chester County Food Bank is fresh fruits and vegetables – 39% locally grown in Pennsylvania, Chester County, or from our own farms and gardens.
We hope to sustain this high volume and variety of healthy food for our network of community partners that distribute to our neighbors in need. But we can’t do it without your support. We are experiencing the highest price increases since we opened in 2009 – some prices are up as much as 300%.
In addition to rising costs, we are also seeing an increased demand for food assistance. With the effects of the pandemic intertwined with inflation, our neighbors here in Chester County – families, children, seniors, and veterans continue to struggle.
