CCFB News – September 2025
Hunger Action Month Wrap-Up
Strength in Partnership was on full display this Hunger Action Month. We saw an outpouring of support from our Chester County community with great turnouts at our Rally Against Hunger and our Community Food Forum. We also not only achieved but exceeded our original goal of collecting 12,000 pounds of donated food by amassing a whopping total of 20,500 pounds of food. It was a month full of generosity, and we are so grateful to each and every person who joined us in our fight against food insecurity.

Community Food Forum
To finish out Hunger Action Month, we held our second annual Community Food Forum which brought together over 100 community stakeholders to learn about the Chester County Food Bank’s impact in 2025.
Throughout the Forum, we discussed the growing need in Chester County, increased distribution, increased food costs, and more.
We want to thank our premier event sponsor Meridian Bank, our presenting sponsors Brumbaugh Wealth Management and Pip Imports & Domestics, and our supporting sponsors Blessing Financial, Comcast, Constellation Energy, CTDI, First Resource Bank, PECO, Pilates and More, Rick Pettine Photography, TruMark Financial Credit Union, and Wrong Crowd Beer Co. for supporting us in our efforts to share our FY25 impact.
This event highlights the importance of strength in partnerships so we can continue to meet the need in Chester County.

Chester County Comes Together to Rally Against Hunger
This Hunger Action Month, Chester County stood together at our annual Rally Against Hunger to speak out against food insecurity in Chester County.
Joined by our partners from the West Chester Food Cupboard, students from West Chester University, Chester County CEO David Byerman, County Commissioner Josh Maxwell and County Commissioner Marian Moskowitz, we had an strong showing of leadership, compassion, and determination to ensure access to nutritious and familiar food.
Thank you to everyone who stood with the Chester County Food Bank in our efforts to mobilize our community to take action to support our neighbors and fight hunger.

CCFB Team Spotlight: Distribution
We love our CCFB staff! This September for our monthly CCFB Team Spotlights, we’re highlighting our incredible Distribution Team!
Led by Senior Director of Distribution Operations José Frazier, with support from Warehouse Logistics & Inventory Manager Nate Sletvold, Inventory Warehouse Associate & Driver Joel Brown, Driver & Warehouse Associate Damion Dixon, Driver & Warehouse Associate Eugene Tiggett, Driver & Warehouse Associate Tom Marsh, and Driver & Warehouse Associate Drew Stuhlmuller, the CCFB’s Distribution team plays a central role in ensuring families, individuals and seniors have the nutritious food they need.
As a lifeline to those in need, the Distribution team ensures access to nutritious and familiar food by managing a variety of distribution strategies including:
- Putting orders together for and communicating with each community partner to provide the right type and quantity of food while accommodating cultural preferences.
- Providing everything from weekly distributions to intermittent emergency support.
- Providing access for community partners to partake in two government food programs, The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the State Food Purchase Program (SFPP).
- Ensuring that community organizations have a variety of fresh produce, milk, eggs (81% of the food CCFB distributes), as well as healthy non-perishable foods such as pasta, rice, beans, and canned goods through bulk distribution.
- Providing pre-packed food boxes or packs to high-need populations based on their unique preferences and nutritional needs through our Backpack Food Packs, Senior Grocery Boxes, Prenatal Boxes, Eat Fresh Produce Boxes, Essential Boxes, Summer Student Boxes, and Color Some Kindness Boxes.
- Delivering nutritious prepared meals for neighbors in need through Meals on Wheels, Simple Suppers, Summer Meals for Kids, and our largest meal program Sunshine Meals.
Our Distribution team helps support Chester County residents in need, and we are so grateful for all their efforts to provide nutritious and familiar food across Chester County.
Thank you, team!

October 9th is National Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) Day
What is a Donor-Advised Fund?
A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a simple, flexible, and tax-efficient way to support the causes you care about most. By giving through a DAF, you can make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to your favorite nonprofits! DAF’s allow donors to maximize impact, maintain flexibility in their charitable giving, and offer a convenient way to make a lasting impact.
This October 9th, National DAF Day, join donors across the country by recommending a grant to support Chester County Food Bank and our mission to building a food secure Chester County.
Have a DAF? You can make a grant request in under 10 minutes through our partnership with FreeWill. If you are new to DAF’s, consider reaching out to a financial advisor to get started!
As the need continues to rise in our community, together, we can make a lasting difference.

We know that experiencing food insecurity can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to face it alone. Together with our incredible community partners, we are here to provide support and resources to anyone in need.
