We are here to support our growing community of gardeners. Whether you are a beginner or a master gardener, we have a variety of resources to help you make the most of your garden.

Free Gardening Workshop

Seed to Supper

In partnership with Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Chester County, we offer Seed to Supper, a beginning gardening course for growing vegetables at home on a budget. the free classes highlight practical, low-cost techniques for growing and celebrating the harvest of a successful vegetable garden. The program improves participants’ access to fresh produce and overall food security.

In the free, six-week course you’ll learn:

  • Low cost ways to start a garden
  • How to plan your growing space
  • Best practices for garden maintenance

Upon course completion, participants will receive free seeds to get you growing!
Free to attend, but we ask that you please register as seats are limited. Be sure to register for the day/location you’d like to attend for the duration of the workshop.

3 Season Planting Plans

The following planting plans are designed for 3-season growing. These plans are intended to offer gardeners ways to keep their garden beds producing during all three seasons (spring, summer, and fall.) Each plan is for one garden bed and consists of two pages. Page 1 gives you a visual look at what the bed will look like during each season. Page 2 gives you written information on when and how to grow each crop including spacing recommendations, planting windows, and links to video tutorials.

These planting plans are based on:

  • 3′ x 10′ raised beds
  • Chester County front dates: last frost 4/23; first frost 10/15

Plan 1: Radish & Peas, Lettuce & Pole Beans, Beets

Plan 2: Spinach, Squash, Scallions

Plan 3: Radish, Eggplant, Lettuce

Plan 4: Broccoli, Bush Beans, Lettuce

Plan 5: Beets, Cucumbers & Bush Beans, Radish

Plan 6: Potato, Kale

Plan 7: Lettuce, Peppers, Spinach

Plan 8: Spinach, Tomato, Salad Turnips
