As a Volunteer

Give Your Time to Volunteering

volunteer

Volunteer your time, individually or as a group, to help feed neighbors in need.

Giving is your opportunity to be a part of making a difference in our community. From individuals to corporations, each person and every volunteer hour makes an impact on our mission. Whether you want to dig in at one of our partnering farms or gardens, be hands-on in our commercial kitchen or warehouse, or assist the office team, we’d love to have you or your group volunteer with us! Volunteer opportunities are available year-round; however, our need does vary based on season, weather, inventory, and program schedules.

COVID Health & Safety Precautions

Under the advisement of two Medical Physicians on the Chester County Food Bank Board of Directors, it has been decided that CCFB can safely lift the vaccine requirement for our volunteers at this time. We strongly advocate that volunteers receive their vaccinations and boosters as recommended by the CDC.  There is a mounting body of evidence that vaccination with the most recent boosters reduces the incidence of long COVID and helps to mitigate a person’s chance of more severe illness.  The COVID vaccine requirement for volunteers will be lifted as of May 1, 2023. All volunteers are expected to self-screen before reporting to their scheduled volunteer shift.

Color Some Kindness

We are grateful for the hundreds of families, organizations, and individuals that have Colored Some Kindness for our Grocery Boxes for Seniors through the years. What started out as a volunteer opportunity for children and families to give back to our community has blossomed into a widespread effort to send a caring word and goodwill to our neighbors who are experiencing difficulty in their lives.

Due to the popularity of the program, delayed return of decorated boxes, and inflated cost of materials, we will be temporarily pausing Coloring Some Kindness. We are looking to develop an in-house volunteer opportunity in the coming months. Stay tuned to our Facebook & Instagram for updates on Coloring Some Kindness at CCFB.
