CCFB News – May 2025

Chester County Kids Making a Difference!

The future is bright with friends like these! This month, CCFB received an outpouring of kindness and generosity from Dylan Houck and Andrew Clark; two immensely impressive and kind-hearted young Chester County changemakers.  Thank you to Dylan and Andrew for showing us the impact of helping your community!

Dylan Houck’s Annual Food Drive

We are so grateful to longtime CCFB donor and friend Dylan Houck for continuing his generous annual collection and donation of food items to CCFB This year, Dylan delivered an impressive 19,360 pounds of donated food to help serve Chester County neighbors struggling with food insecurity.

Beginning his annual food drives at the age of four, Dylan, now fourteen, has dedicated the last ten years collecting tens of thousands of pounds of much-needed food with the help of his family, friends, and church community.

We are in awe of Dylan’s determination to his continued mission to help CCFB serve Chester County neighbors in need.

Amazing work, Dylan!

Andrew Clark’s Annual Food Drive

We also received a very generous donation of food from another longtime CCFB donor and friend Andrew Clark this month!

Hosting food drives for CCFB over the last seven years, Andrew has inspired us with his mission of compassion and service at such a young age.

This year, Andrew delivered an impressive 980 pounds of food to help serve Chester County neighbors struggling with food insecurity, adding to an impactful total of 5,600 pounds collected and donated in the seven years since his food drives began.

Thank you so much, Andrew for helping us ensure access to nutritious and familiar food!

CCFB Team Spotlight: Development

We love our CCFB staff!  This May for our monthly CCFB Team Spotlights, we’re highlighting our incredible Development Team!

Headed by Director of Development Jeffrey Howard, and comprising of Impact Manager Michelle Berger, MPH, Systems Integration Manager Bhagawat Acharya, and Development Associate Drew Margerum, CCFB’s Development Team is dedicated to helping ensure access to nutritious and familiar food to the Chester County community through fundraising and donor relations efforts.

From cultivating meaningful friendships with our many generous donors, to managing all monetary donations made to CCFB, to hosting fundraising events, and so much more, our Development team is the engine that keeps CCFB moving forward!

Did you know?   Our overall monetary donations cover 64% of the funding CCFB needs per year, not accounting for government funding.  Through the immense generosity of our donors, we are not only able to provide healthy, good quality food for our Chester County neighbors, but we are also able to continue to provide enriching educational opportunities, workforce development training programs, and helpful resources for those in need.

“I’m proud of the work that we do, what we can do to provide for our CCFB team and the programs they facilitate, and the tidal wave of affect it has on our community.” – Jeffrey Howard

CCFB is so grateful to our Development Team and their efforts to help fight food insecurity within the Chester County community.  Thank you, team!

Shredding Events

This month, we partnered with Representative Otten, Representative Shusterman, State Senator Comitta, and Representative Howard at three paper shredding events.

Aimed towards giving Chester County residents the chance to safely recycle their unwanted documents, the four public figures also encouraged visitors to bring in food donations to help members of the community struggling with food insecurity.

The shredding events were a huge hit, with a total donation of nearly 2,000 pounds of food, showing us the true spirit of community care and fellowship.

These strong partnerships with our elected officials and the community are crucial for a well rounded approach to solving food insecurity, and we are grateful for their support.
