USDA Announces an investment of $230 Million in Nutritious Food Nationwide; Chester County Food Bank Appreciative for Support to Strengthen Food Access

The Chester County Food Bank expresses its appreciation to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) following their announcement of a nationwide investment of up to $230 million in nutritious food, including fresh seafood, fruits, vegetables, and beans for distribution through The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).

The breakdown:

While the funding is allocated across the country, we remain hopeful that there will be a local impact. Chester County continues to face challenges with increased number of neighbors facing food insecurity, and an additional supply of healthy food will help stock the shelves of our community partner, ensuring more families can have access to fresh foods.

CCFB values the USDA’s partnership and its role in supporting communities like ours. This initiative also highlights the essential contributions of American farmers, growers, and producers whose work sustains both local agriculture and the families we serve.

At the Chester County Food Bank, we believe that addressing hunger requires collaboration across government, agriculture, nonprofits, and local communities. This USDA effort is a meaningful example of how coordinated action can bring us closer to a future where everyone in Chester County has access to the food they need to live healthy, dignified lives.
