Fresh2You Mobile Market

Farm Stand on Wheels

Bringing Affordable Fresh Foods to You

Fresh2You Mobile Market travels throughout Chester County June-November providing high-quality, local, seasonal, and affordable fresh foods while providing education on healthy cooking to communities with limited food access. Building community by being present and bridging access, Fresh2You improves food equity and creates a wonderful shopping experience.

To make fresh local food accessible to all, Fresh2You accepts all forms of payment including SNAP (previously known as food stamps) and Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) checks. Purchases made with SNAP or FMNP are matched with Chester County Food Bank’s own Veggie Bucks, a form of currency that can be used on future purchases of fruits and vegetables and doubles the purchase power of individual customers. Fresh2You also partners with health clinics to provide Fruit & Vegetable Prescriptions. At Fresh2You market locations, participants in Fruit & Vegetable Prescription are able to redeem their prescription cards for fresh produce.

From Farm to Market

Fresh2You sources most of the produce we sell from our very own Agriculture Department, with on-staff farmers growing at several locations throughout Chester County. We also support our network of local farms and producers by purchasing additional fruits and vegetables and other pantry staples, bringing you the best in seasonal produce and locally made products.

Some of our local growers and producers we work with (depending on the season and availability):

Cheyney University Aquaponics
Eagle Road Farm, Quarryville
Forge Hill Farms, Downingtown
Frecon Farms, Boyertown
Glen Willow Orchards, Avondale
Highland Orchards, West Chester
Mother Earth Mushrooms, Landenberg
Swarmbustin’ Honey, West Grove
Two Gander Farm, Downingtown
Vollmecke Orchards, Coatesville

If you are a local grower or producer interested in having your products sold at Fresh2You, please send a product list to Catie Mahoney, Director of Food Access & Education.

From Market to Table

In addition to selling an abundant selection of local, seasonal products, Fresh2You hosts Taste It Recipe Demonstrations. At most markets, you can find highly trained volunteers cooking and sampling our Weekly Recipe.

Fresh2You recipes are simple, seasonal, and feature ingredients fresh from our farmers. Along with taking home one of our free recipes, customers can purchase the $6 Weekly Recipe Bundle to make the recipe at home!

Take a look at our past recipes for inspiration or see below for how to join the market as a Taste It Volunteer.

Building Community

We work with established Farmers Markets, farm stands, and small retailers throughout the County to accept Veggie Bucks, and to encourage SNAP retailers. Growing Roots Partner’s Downingtown Farmers Market was the first farmers market in Chester County to accept SNAP in 2017! Growing Roots Partners now accepts SNAP at all of their markets with locations in Eagleview, Malvern, Devon and West Reading. If you are a market manager or retailer that is interested in becoming a Veggie Buck partner or SNAP retailer, contact Catie Mahoney for more information.

Taste It

Fresh2You locations also host Taste It, where volunteers do cooking demonstrations using the recipe of the week bundle. Volunteers engage with the community in a fun and active demonstration; community members are able to sample the recipe, learn about the ingredients, and are encouraged to replicate the recipe at home, perhaps with their own spin on it.

Our shoppers not only benefit from delicious farm fresh vegetables, but they also report increased cooking skills and overall well-being. Survey data show that 80% of customers have made a Fresh2You recipe at home. Engaging with customers around food and wellness helps us to create positive experiences with healthy foods, and grow our relationships in the communities we serve.

Veggie Buck Partners

Fresh2You accepts all forms of payment, including cash, credit/debit, SNAP/EBT, Fruit & Vegetable Prescription, and WIC or Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) checks.
